How to photograph White Sands without having the picture coming out gray?

THE TROUBLE

As is the case when taking a picture of snow landscapes, the camera is "blinded" by the light and underexposes your White Sands picture, rendering it gray.

WHAT TO DO?

You will have to overwrite your light meter. Look at your brightness correct buttons and crank it up +1 or +2.

Instead, you could also lock your camera on a gray object.

Here is a tip from Professional Secrets of Nature Photography - Essential Techniques for Photographing Outdoors, by Judy Holmes.

Check Your Light Meter if You Want to Have White Sands, not Gray Sands
